Happy Holidays!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

The base is all decorated and looks as much like Christmas as we could get it to. I have Christmas gifts under a small fake tree in my room and stockings filled with gifts from friends here.

Me and the Girls take care of eachother and lean on eachother for support. We all work different shifts so we try to get together as much as our schedule allows. Arent we cute?!

I'm missing the holidays at home... the smells and sounds. Mom and Dad's house has a door bell that you can change to play Christmas music, I miss that. I miss my brothers and how we never fought during the Holidays.... seems like we just put everything aside and realized how much we love eachother. I guess you never realize how amazing your family is until you arent able to reach out and hug them!

But besides all that, the Deployment is going fast and we are almost through. I'm making plans for when I get back, trips, house hunting, camping trips with friends, Las Vegas! :)

I miss you all and hope your Holiday season is the greatest! Merry Christmas

Trip To Babylon!

This is me in front of Sadam's Palace :)

From Left to Right: Me, Pappas, LT Bagnall, Thomas, SGT Davis (TEAM BIG SEXY)

Me and SGT Cooper Again.... We goof off alot

The gate was rebuilt, the original is in a museum... but it was still pretty. This is me and SGT Cooper (one of byrons friends I'm deployed with).

This is me and my gunner, Pappas, he is one of my closest friends here and we do everything together as a team. Dont I look cool with all my gear? I hope so because its heavy and my back always hurts :)

Me and SGT Cooper again.... he is a big goof, much like Byron.
Even though the Beavers lost, we watched the whole time praying for a win! The company here is pretty split 50/50 Ducks/Beavers so it was an awesome game to watch and cheer for. The only three females in the Company are all Beavers! :)

Prankster!

So I did a prank on my platoon sgt, who is a good sport as long as its someone a higher rank, so I had some help. My 1st sgt and a master sgt helped me out! We decorated his room with a pink disney princess blanket, feminine products and smelly candles with BackStreet boys playing in his computer :) hehehe, here are the pictures....

My new hobbie on this deployment has been house shopping! I've found a couple that I adore, mainly this one though....

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and I would like to say that although I'm not at home, I feel the love and support of my family every day. We are having a huge thanksgiving dinner here with a church service after. Our chain of command is serving us too! How cool is that? I'm making sure you take my camera and get lots of pictures.

I miss everyone very much and cant wait to be with you all again soon.

Headed back overseas today... hopefully they take a really long time getting me there! :) I was hoping for a delay and a nights stay in the states but I'm not sure when they are taking me out.

Half way done everyone! On the last leg of this deployment! I have been looking at houses in the Vancouver area and I cant wait to buy one. They are going to extend the tax credit to those deployed soilders! Isnt that exciteing?

I had a blast at home and did everything I wanted to do! Its amazing how much you can fit into two weeks and still feel like you want more time. But, I get 90 days before I go back to work after the deployment so I'm going to live it up! Have any suggestions? Email me, nichole.m.jackson@gmail.com

I got to go to a Palace where the General in charge of the army in Iraq has his headquarters and they had this awesome chair! :) I think I look good as a person in charge :)
This was when we were on our way home, we stopped in Bagdad for a couple days till we got a flight to Kuwait. It was fun seeing the big city, where I"m stationed is rather small although it has beautiful Palm Trees and orchards....

Sept. 11

I cant believe how long ago it was and yet.... I'm still fighting here in Iraq. But, today was quiet in Scania and I'm very glad its over. We had a ceremony for our higher ups to say "hey, you can wear your combat patches now". ;)
Its so weird to finally wake up and not be freaked out about where i am.... I guess I"m getting institutionalized :)
Its nice getting used to things though, even though they are still pretty shitty... but I take it day by day and breath!
Oh, I should be home sometime in October!! :) I'll spend most of my time with my fam in GP but I'm hoping to at least spend a long weekend in P-town and the 'couve. I miss it there. But not as much as GP and Abby;s Pizza!! :)
So, I love you all, miss you! See you soon

Update

Sorry everyone.. its looking like I cant upload photos while I'm here... we are trying to get a new internet provider out here but the up front costs are seeming to be a little steep. Hopefully though we can get it soon.
I've gotten many care packages and I'm so blessed with such wonderful caring friends and family. I hope every one is healthy and their lives are going well.

I'm having problems with the lack of sleep I get but the Doctor gave me sleeping pills to ensure that when I do have time that I"m getting the most out of it.
Several 20 something hour days in a row can do that to you I guess. :)
I'm actually working the in office now for 12 hour shifts on a program that the Army ripped off from GIS! How funny is it that I'm doing something I actually know how to do in the Army? I almost forgot how that felt. But they still dont take my advice on how to make things more stream lined and efficient... they will learn.
Miss you and love you all!

Oregon News

I'm okay.... Oregon found out about the soldiers before we did here! I'm not sure who they are or where they are from yet.. and we are all very sad. I miss home and I miss you all very much!
I'll update more later

I need help!!

Calling all jokers! I need help!! The men all gather around and tell jokes... mostly about women. Now, they usually try to tame it down a little when I'm around but I need material! I dont care if its clean volgar or just plain silly, I need help. Its my sanitity on the line here friends, and I've exhausted myself trying to find good men jokes online, they are just lame! The jokes should be about men....not sure if I mentioned that part. Email them to me if you come up with anything

Mission / Job

So I thought I would tell you all a little about my job here in Iraq. Currently we have three week rotations. The first three weeks is what we call QRF (Quick Reaction Force). Since I am stationed in Scania which is basically right in the middle of Iraq, my base is a big truck stop and major fuel point for the smaller trucks traveling MSR Tampa. (MSR=Main Suppy Route). So if they need help or find something along the road that they suspect, they call us to come out and help them out. Its pretty cool so far, smaller base, better hours, less hassel from higher up.
The second three weeks I will be in the office helping with Logistics. Because I'm the Platoon Leaders driver, I basically dont have a truck crew on these second three weeks. This is awesome because the others in the platoon have 'grey water' which is a horrible stinky job that I wont go into. They have Entry Control Point which is hours of watching camera monitors at the ECP shack. They also have tower duty. Tower duty is where you go man a tower around the base and look over the wall for hours searching for anything threatening. So, me being posted inside the office is a good thing :)

I went out on my first mission the other day for a route recon (basically checking out the route and check points to see if anything looks out of the ordinary). It was a success :) Trying to avoid pot holes is going to be tricky though haha, I think I hit more trying to avoid the ones I saw than if I had just hit the ones I saw. Its very difficult.

I wrecked my truck the first day I got it, even before we left base. It was at night before we left Talill to come to Scania. There was a 6X6 foot sewer hole with a 2 foot tall concrete barrier around it on top. Now, its dark, I'm nervous about my first mission, I have a very large wrecker in front of me causing all sorts of dust. I go for the left turn, take it too tight and hit this very oddly placed concrete box. Now my truck is huge and it felt more like a speed bump until I realized I couldnt move. I was wedged on top of this darn thing. I get out, realize I'm see sawing on top of it, get back in and back off of it. I try to drive off and realize I cant turn right. My front tires were unable to turn right because I had busted the leaf springs and some how pushed them so far to the right that my wheels were perminantly turned left. :) Hey, if you are going to set a standard, do it first and do it right :)

So one of my buddies hit a dumpster yesterday and they called it "He pulled a Jackson". Awesome!

Anyways, I miss home like crazy.... I hope everyone is well!

Scania

I finally made it to my duty station. I'm trying to get internet in my room but they are saying that we are moving rooms again once the unit we are replacing leaves. Also, I am currently with out a computer, I left it behind in Tallil due to me being forgetful. Dont worry, I'm sure one of my battle buddies has it.

The phones are out here... Sorry for not calling. I have an actual bed with sheets and comfortor! I cant believe what a difference it makes! I'm sick though, I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to Iraq!

I'm trying to sleep alot to get better and the bed is helping!
Things are good here, hot, but good. I live on a smaller base so less drama and people around. I like it. Less walking distance to the chow hall too :)

I'll post pictures once I get my camera back.

Happy Places

I totally rock the short hair cut! :) CANT WAIT FOR IT TO GROW BACK THOUGH!

While I'm here, I think I'm going to buy some hair growth products.... :) Make it grow faster. I just really dont wait the product to make all body hair grow faster... I hate having to shave my legs out here, just annoying.

We are leaving Kuwait sometime.... and I"m so excited. We will have our mission, jobs, our own space and not living out of duffel bags anymore. Some routine would be nice about now too, I really need to get on a schedule with the gym!

I will post my final address for everyone soon. Hope everyone is doing well!

At night I've been dreaming of wonderful places I've visited. Except the nasty Humidity, Savannah was one of them. Tiff posted new pictures for me on facebook so I saved them.
